The California Dream Act was drawn up by a group of California assembly members and senators, lead by Assembly Member Cedillo and than passed into law by Governor Jerry Brown on October 11, 2011. The California Dream Act was a law that was meant to give benefits to undocumented immigrants that entered the US before age 16 and one of those laws was to lower the cost of college. "if he or she is an alien without lawful immigration status, has filed a prescribed affidavit, is exempt from paying nonresident tuition at the California Community Colleges and the California State University." This became a law in October 2011 throughout the state of California. The law was a big step in immigration rights and now gives immigrants a chance of success in America so they too can succeed.
