The St. Patrick's Day Parades and festivities have been popular around the world and in the United States. Parades in America date back to the Colonial era. The St. Patrick's day parade became very popular in the early 1900s when Irish were flocking to the United States and making their mark around America. The Irish were known by other racial groups in America for drinking, partying, and causing mischief. The Irish started the parades and made it into a huge celebration where Americans drink and go out and party. The Irish started to emigrate to the United States in 1848 when the Great Potato Famine started. The Irish were discriminated against in America in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Irish were finally starting to be accepted in American society and St Patrick's Day festivities were a big part of that the Irish gave other racial groups something to look forward too. Most people today enjoy or don't mind St. Patrick's Day while in the early 1900s their were still some skeptics of the Irish and disagreed with it completely. St. Patrick's Day made people start to embrace the Irish and their culture and still to today it is a big holiday in the United States and the world, even though not recognized as a federal holiday.

Chinatowns are parts of a city with a high concentration of Chinese people. They are usually a group of a few neighborhoods that still practice Chinese culture. Large waves of Chinese Immigrants started in the mid-1800s with the birth of the California Gold Rush and the start of the Transcontinental Railroad. Chinese immigration stopped with laws such as the Chinese Exclusion Act that stopped Chinese immigration but it picked back up in the early 1900s. Chinatowns expanded all over the United States and were found in cities all around. Chinatowns became a tourist attraction for their great cuisine and culture. People became to embrace the Chinese for their interesting ways of life and great food. People have found Chinatowns intriguing and still to this day Chinatowns are a big hit in a lot of major cities.
